Gilmer County Department of Public Safety – Fire Department

The Gilmer County Department of Public Safety is a combination fire department that consists of professional full time and volunteer members.  The department provides fire suppression, EMS services, as well as technical water, rope, and crash victim rescue.  The Gilmer County Department of Public Safety strives to provide the highest level of public service to the citizens they serve.

Colleges:

Dalton State College offers general education credit classes.  These classes include course from Areas A-F of the Core Curriculum as well as Learning Support classes. 

All credit courses offered at the extended campus sties carry the same academic credit as the equivalent courses offered on the main campus in Dalton.  Students who have attended or are currently attending Appalachian Technical College, Coosa Valley Technical College, or Northwestern Technical College, also have a unique opportunity to earn an Associate of Applied Science Cooperative Degree by combining their technical programs with general education courses taken from Dalton State College.  Depending on the technical area of study, students with the A.A.S. degree can continue with their studies at Dalton State and seek a Bachelor’s of Applied Science Degree.

Dalton State also offers a selection of general education classes on the main campus on Saturdays.

North Georgia Technical College (NGTC)

North Georgia Technical College opened its Blairsville campus in 1998, a state of the art 5.5 million facility with 48,000 square feet of classrooms plus administrative space.  NGTC was accredited in 2008 to offer two-year associate degrees as well as technical certificates and diplomas in a variety of career fields.  The college maintains close relationships with the business and industry to keep in step with the latest operating equipment and the skills needed. Chattahoochee Technical College (CTC)

In 2009, Appalachian Technical College, Chattahoochee Technical College, and North Metro Technical College merged to form the leading post-secondary education college in the state.  Chattahoochee Technical College (CTC) offers more than 100 programs of study.

CTA works with its local communities to provide the workforce needed to stimulate Georgia’s community and economic growth and development.  CTC offers a wide variety of continuing education courses of business, career, and personal enrichment, as well as online or hybrid courses on all its campuses.
